Our core expertise lies in the delivery of high availability, resilient IT and Communications Technology (ICT) delivered via software as a service (SaaS).
Both public and private sector companies use Crisis Commander for business continuity, civil contingency, continuity planning, crisis communications and disaster recovery purposes.
Crisis Commander utilises resilient UK and European fixed, cellular and data communication networks and is hosted at Tier 4 secure data centres within the UK and European Union.
Availability
Availability describes the extent to which the Crisis Commander applications are operational within a specific period, and is a key performance indicator of the quality of our service. The availability guaranteed by Crisis Commander can be examined at any time on the basis of the following:
Guaranteed Availability
The sophisticated structure of our security and backup systems is based on redundancy throughout the entire process chain (sites - systems – network providers). It enables us to provide our customers with contractually guaranteed availability of 99.9% for all alerting and telephone conference processes (telephony), and 100% for the Internet-based administration and activation of Crisis Commander. These figures refer to a period of one year in each case.
Documented Availability
Since December 2002 we have monitored and documented Crisis Commander availability on a monthly basis. These figures are available to our clients at all times.
Surveillance of communication systems
The standards which apply to this process comply with our in-house quality assurance. Unfortunately, we were unable to find an external provider which complied with our requirements for the availability of testing and inspection systems. Crisis Commander therefore conducts system surveillance and monitoring itself, with the following procedure:
Telephony failure occurs if all sites are non-operational simultaneously. In this case, alerting could not be carried out!
Surveillance of Internet systems
Availability checks of our Internet systems are performed by external providers.
Connectivity
It's true what they say - to get ahead you need to have the right connections. With this in mind we made sure that we chose exactly those connections that would ensure that our network is fast and resilient. Our clients can be assured that their emergency notification tranmissions can be sent anywhere in the world; delivering the right message, to the right people at the right time.
Our primary carriers were chosen based upon their reputations for delivering a high quality service and their ability to provide fast, fixed and mobile communications connectivity to all points of the globe via their own fully managed resilient networks.
Resilient network infrastructure
To build a resilient network you need to make sure that the points of failure are eliminated.
As well as taking multiple feeds from multiple carriers we make sure that the routing and network infrastructure within our network is such that should a router fail, for example, the others will take over it's roles instantly.
Monitored network
Our network is monitored around the clock. We make sure that we know the minute something isn't right and react to ensure it doesn't become a problem.
